About the Author
Ferghanistan: The War On Police is the first book by nationally recognized police spokesman and former Missouri State Representative, Jeff Roorda. In the aftermath of the shooting of Michael Brown by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson and other high-profile deadly encounters between police and suspects elsewhere, Roorda, the spokesperson for the Fraternal Order of Police in St. Louis, was propelled into the national spotlight. In hundreds of broadcast and print interviews, Roorda relentlessly defended police officers who he believed acted properly, and defiantly challenged what he called the “hands-up; don’t shoot” myth that took hold in the wake of the Ferguson shooting. Roorda, a frequent guest commentator on CNN and Fox News Network, emerged as the most powerful pro-police voice during a time in history when law enforcement came under unprecedented and unwarranted criticism from protestors, the press, and politicians alike. Roorda, a retired police chief and decorated undercover narcotics detective, was serving his last days in the Missouri House of Representatives due to term limits when hostilities broke out in Ferguson. He spent his waning moments in public office criticizing Eric Holder, Barrack Obama, and other members of his own party for their botched handling in Ferguson, and for fanning the flames of what he dubbed The War On Police. Roorda’s un-retreating, bare-knuckles style comes bursting through the pages of his book as he sets the record straight with a sober, candid, and insightful examination of policing and race relations in America. Great job Jeff Roorda.

The most accurate account of what actually happened in Ferguson. I was on the streets of Ferguson being shot at. Not a single media outlet ever came close to actually reporting what happened in August 2014.

The rest of the story
By Dennis Long
As a retired St. Louis County Police commander I appreciate the manner in which Jeff debunked the media accounts of this event. The book is well written and he methodically and surgically dissects each falsehood and lie and refutes it with fact. Myself and several other retirees spent Thanksgiving week at the command post putting together meals for the officers and National Guard troops and saw the despair in many of their faces. I gave the book four stars because I feel that Jeff was too kind to Governor Nixon, US Senator McCaskill and State Senator Nasheed. Nixon kept the National Guard sequestered in the county seat while Ferguson burned. The troops could have prevented a lot of property damage and the MPs could have arrested a lot of thugs. The Governor then finally sent these troops into the "war zone" with unloaded weapons, which is a travesty. They became targets with no means of defense. Fortunately, the bad guys did not know the guns were empty, but next time they will assume they have unloaded weapons and they may well become targets. McCaskill was no friend of the police with her cries of militarization. Nasheed was totally bias in favor of the mob! All of the officers that I have spoken to maintain hard feelings toward these three elected officials. It is difficult to blame Jeff because he is after all a politician and they were his friends. Overall, good book, good read!

Highly recommended for those who are interested in truth and justice ...

Jeff Roorda makes a powerful argument for law enforcement, who have been unjustly vilified since the "hands up, don't shoot" lie swept the nation. Highly recommended for those who are interested in truth and justice AND for those who refuse to accept the exoneration of Darren Wilson.
