Must read. I've recently gone through a breakup and I purchase the kindle version and I will be purchasing the book for my ex. If you're in a relationship, recently out of one or just having fun...reading this book gives you a chance to grow a a be a better person. I don't know the author personally but I see him on the 5150 show and I appreciate his wisdom. I enjoy listening to Corey act a fool but Zo I relate you you more and when you said your account was hacked I felt your frustration. I'm a reader and this book deserves to be a NY best seller. I hope you get things fixed with the website because we need this book out. And for anyone wondering if it's for them....GET IT!

He has worked with a wide range of clients spanning many business sectors, and he remains active in consulting in the areas of market research, analytics, data integration, and customer satisfaction research.

Useful Information with a Well Done Layout

I am about to graduate from Northeastern and this was the book for one of my final elective courses, Consumer Behavior. I run several websites so it is absolutely critical to me to understand how web visitors think about content, make selections, and build affinities with brands. The book provided wonderful information in all areas.

The book is full color and provides a wealth of examples of ads, labels, and other material so you can understand what is being presented. You can see visually how some styles of promotions draw users in, while others repel the users to convince them to stop doing something (for example, using drugs). The book uses real life stories mixed in with theoretical explanations to help you explain the concepts.

There is a good mix of cross-cultural information, to help readers understand how marketing to an American audience differs from marketing to the Chinese, for example. It also delves thoroughly into sub cultures, from African Americans to tweens to Harley riders. It discusses the challenges of narrowing down social class in our mobile society. It discusses how buyers have ongoing "wars" in their heads between the rational decision making process and the emotion-driven pleasure center.

I enjoyed the book immensely and found much of its material immediately valuable for my daily work. I imagine most people who read this will find it helpful, if not for what they do for a living, then in how they themselves are being marketed to and are making decisions.

I have a minor "factual" issue I'd like to point out. On page 535 the author perpetuates the myth that we don't throw rice at weddings now because it makes birds' stomachs' explode. This absolutely is NOT TRUE. Birds eat rice naturally and their bodies deal with it fine, even when it's not cooked. There were no rice cookers in nature :). The reason churches asked people to stop throwing rice is that it's a royal pain to clean up.

So, that point aside, I do recommend the book.

I bought this book as used and it came almost brand new. I love the insights that this book gives me and the pearson videos that link to it. I have learned so much from just reading this book and I have successfully started my own blog. I would recommend this for a teacher or any inquisitive person!

Not the book, but the customer service

This is a solid textbook. Explains most of what you really need to know about consumer behavior. But I didn't this review because of the book, but because I got the book from a_teambooks. These guys have the best customer service I've had online. They solved my problem in a pinch. If you ever do have to buy textbooks, buy it from a_teambooks!!!

Great read on epidemics from ancient to modern

Whether you are an armchair epidemiologist or just want a scary read, this book explores 50 different epidemics from 10,000 BC until 2014. Each outbreak includes a summary page and three to five pages of detail - perfect bite-sized chunks for reading a little at a time or doing a longer dive.
The prose is clear for the lay person but technically accurate for those who have a background in microbiology, as I do. It was refreshing to see this balance. It was also entertaining without being lurid.

I was familiar with many of these outbreaks as I've done a lot of reading on them, but Skwarecki provided many new details I didn't know, plus disease outbreaks I had not read about before. I thought each outbreak had just the right amount of information. Often it inspired going to the internet to read more about the period.

This is a book I highly recommend.

A Fascinating Tour of History’s Terrible Epidemics

In 50 short but succinct chapters – each about 4 to 5 pages long - the author guides the reader through various epidemics that have plagued the human race from about 10,000 BCE to the present. In each case, an affected geographical location/country/city is highlighted and the particular disease’s nature, means of spreading, effects on those infected, effects on society and eventual exit are all clearly described.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Each chapter is self-contained and does not rely on information presented in earlier chapters. Consequently, one can read a chapter or two or more and put the book aside for a while and come back to it later without having to remember anything about what’s been already read. I found this book to be well written in a prose that is clear, lively, accessible, friendly, authoritative and immensely captivating. Although this book can be enjoyed by anyone, I believe that a treat is to be had by those with a penchant for history - particularly for how and when epidemics have occurred and their usually devastating effects.

This is a decent review but that is it. If your trying to learn any of the topics for the first time I would suggest Langmans. I've only really read 2 chapters and there has been a few typos. If you haven't read langman's or have a very strong background in embryo this book is probably not for you.

Good for what it's meant for.

The book is very simplistic and meant as a quick overview of embryological development. I find myself frequently consulting a textbook for clarification, but the book does provide a good, quick review of the high yield concepts in embryology.

This should be mandatory in all business schools.

This book has changed the way I see my profession and judge my ideas. I've been in the marketing/advertising industry for over 15 years and had a hard time swallowing the hard truths contained here. But it was nevertheless extremely helpful and eye opening. I'm glad I came across this book after reading so much non sense, such as Love Marks, etc.
