Real beginners book

This book was required for a course. It is a real beginner's book in website development. If you already have knowledge of HTML and CSS and are looking to update your knowledge this book is not for you.

If you haven't done any website development before this book does provide a start from the very beginning. It does have exercise files for working through which you can download; the link is included in the book.

The price at the time of writing seems a bit pricy. It has very large print.

Such a rip off!!!!

Needed to buy a book for college, and you know how much that sucks as is with different editions? Well at least other textbooks have different covers!

This one is EXACTLY the same cover as the other book with one slight change..... the book I need says "Complete" instead of "series" So be careful not to buy these scam artists wrong book.

This book hardly has any information in it at all, and hardly has any pages. It isn't worth the asking prices of 50 dollars and up, don't even bother.... It's not even worth buying to lead into the "complete" book, but hey nice of them to rip you off and advertise the actual book for you.....

So thanks, now I have to waste even more money buying the actual book (yay them, their scam worked!) and now I get to miss a few assignments waiting for the thing to ship. Really appreciate it......

DONT BUY, WRONG BOOK

We purchased this book because it has the same exact cover and somehow the same exact ISBN number as the "Complete" book.

IT IS NOT THE RIGHT BOOK. I'm assuming most people are like us and buying the book because its required for some course in college. you need the "Complete" book. This one has very few chapters and very little content, it doesn't have the chapters you need. You can tell the difference because it says "introductory" and they trick you into thinking its the right one.

You are basically paying an extra 25-50 dollars to buy half the book twice, if its even half its probably less. Overall its a rip off. It hardly teaches you anything, and the print is small so you will be squinting at it. Noticed the author also used a few HTML words wrong. Hopefully the actual book is better.....

You've trie the rest, now get the best.

Nick Macari's The Working Writer's Guide to Comics and Graphic Novels is hands down the BEST book out on the craft of writing for comics and related sequential media. Sure there are other books by people with more recognizable names, but where their books live in concepts and theory, but in The Working Writer's Guide Nick puts his money where his mouth is and gets down to brass tacks about putting these concepts into ACTION. Few, if any of those other books give you how many words you should put in a panel to display how many is too many. Few of them show you a template for organizing your scripts. Those other may be good reads, but TWWG is an invaluable resource when it comes to the challenge of writing comic script that reads well and isn't cluttered. This book hasn't left my desk since it arrived and I refer to it whenever I am writing. The Working Writer's Guide is a golden resource for anyone interested in the business of comic books storytelling.

The Working Writer's Guide will take you to the next level.
I have read pretty much every books about comic book writing from Eisner to Mc Cloud and Bendis and they
're all good but The Working Writer's Guide will take you to the next level. It explains writing comics in specific ways that everyone can use. I love this book. It should be part of your writing bibles collection, right on your desk.

I purchased this because my friend Ed Watson did some art for it. I've written stories, non-fiction, and screenplays, but never a graphic novel since I was always unsure of the script formatting. This is excellent! This book not only goes over everything with detail and reasoning, but you always have an example - text or visual.

There is a true love and fierce loyalty present in the Casson world

I first encountered the Cassons when I was 12, immediately swept into their charming little corner of the world. Not all books we read at this age manage to stand the test of time, however, and they lose their spark when we have passed through that stage of our life. But the Casson children have been my companions, read and reread so many times that I have lost count, for ten years now. At age 22, I am just as charmed, if not more, by the way Hilary McKay writes unforgettable and carefully nuanced characters. While the books don't have harrowing plot twists, action sequences, or any kind of magical/supernatural element, McKay manages to bury you in a world that you are reluctant to leave. If you are a reader who appreciates characters and a strong narrative voice, I can guarantee that you will be swept into this world and immediately taken with the Cassons and all who cross their paths. If I have a family one day, I cannot wait to read these to my children. There's a timeless element about the Cassons - despite the stretching on for nearly a decade, there is hardly anything that dates them, and it is lovely to read about a family that isn't bogged down by the technology of today, but this doesn't change how relatable they are in the least. There is a true love and fierce loyalty present in the Casson world, one that makes this family so genuine and refreshing. There is something pure about the Casson books but without a watered down or juvenile feel them. I have, of course, read many fantastic books in my life, but I have never been so taken with a book the way that the Cassons have settled so permanently in my heart.

The modern version

I loved this book as a kid, so I was excited to find a copy for my daughters. I started reading it and right away, the main character is talking about her dad sending her an email. Whoa! This book was written in 1985! I handed it off to my girls and stopped thinking about it. They both loved it! My oldest said there's an interview with Lois Duncan at the back in which she explains that her publisher asked her to update all of her old books. Apparently, she spent a lot of time figuring out how to destroy cell phones, in order to keep the plots the same. I gave four stars because well, it's not the original, which was fantastic. But 13 and 11 year-olds will still love it and it will make sense in their world. (PS - Amazon still has the original version, if you want to read it.)

Can you imagine never growing older? Being stuck at the age you are right now for all eternity? If you were Lisette, Gabe or Josie in the novel "Locked In Time", by Lois Duncan, you'd know what it feels like to be the same age for over 100 years. Decades pass, new invention develop, those around you die, but you keep living on... When Nore Robbins goes to live with her dad, who recently remarried Lisette, she begins to sense something about her step-mother and her two kids. Through overhearing mysterious comments and piecing clues together, Nore begins to realize that her new step-family, by some strange occurence, never ages and never will because they are locked in time. The best part about this book is that it has it all (except comedy)... drama, murder, romance, mystery, suspense, science fiction and plenty of real life aspects. Having been written in first person main character, the book gives the reader an inside view on the story. You're right there with Nore as she's hearing the odd fragment of inforamtion and it's almost as if you are helping her piece clues together. The major lesson/moral that was clearest to me from "Locked In Time" was that some secrets just aren't meant to be kept behind closed doors forever. They're bound to be let out in the open sometime, especially if you try to hard to conceal them. Although the book isn't adult-themed, the plot and subtle clues about the ending throughout the book would make it difficult for anyone under 11 to understand and enjoy.

Aly Bain's Eclectic Tune Collection

This collection spans a wide variety of Celtic styles, including Shetland Islands tunes. Several tunes in flat keys are presented, along with several hornpipes, jigs, polkas, reels and a few strathspeys. Interesting biographical information is also presented on some of the greats of Scotttish violin, including James Scott Skinner and the Gows. My copy was used, and unfortunately the CD did not come with it. I recommend getting a copy with the recording since the best way to get the feel of these tunes is to hear them played by a great musician like Aly Bain.
