Great Syntax Book
By Matthew
Carnie did an excellent job writing this syntax book. It is very clear, resourceful, and easy to follow. Throughout the book, Carnie will incrementally, chapter-by-chapter propose to you the idea of a "universal grammar". You'll just love how well he frames arguments and relies on evidence/examples/diagrams. Now enough wasting time! Give this book a read!

For background:
Due to a terrible education system, I came into a college syntax course that used this book not knowing what an adjective was. Needless to say, this book has done wonders for me.

To The Author:
It is extremely annoying when a book gives you exercises, but does not give you the solutions in back! -1 star!

Informative and Well-Written
By AD28
Wow! This is probably the most well-written textbook I've had the pleasure of reading. Syntax is a complicated topic, but Carnie does a great job of starting with the basics and building up to more complicated topics. As the topics get more involved, it could use a bit more explanation, but it's still more clearly written than any other Syntax book I've seen. I didn't use this book for a class, but read through the whole thing to review before a big exam. It was very conducive to self-study, and helped me fill in some gaps of knowledge I had about the topic. Highly recommend!
